In order to keep living and advancing at the current state, we must protect all information about the Compound from the outside world. While the Compound supports all studies and trips outside our dome, if Paranormals break the Secrecy of the Compound – their memories will be wiped and they will be forced to live on the outside.
This is the course of action the Bureau and particularly the Containment Committee would take in order to protect the Compound’s secrecy.
For Paranormals who are interested in exploring the Normal world, we have two types of clearance options: the short term pass, which allows you to be outside the Compound up to 7 days, or the long term, for which the pass is indefinite. To obtain a pass, the Containment Committee have devised a system to protect the Compound from anyone who leaves it.
For the short term pass, we find out your reason for leaving, where you’ll be staying during this time, when you plan to return, as well as teaching you some basic Norm skills so that you’re not at risk of incriminating yourselves. Your belongings will also be checked to prevent information leaks.
For the long term pass, the process is more complicated. You have to fill in the appropriate paperwork, followed by a secure palm scan to confirm your identity, pass a mental assessment and pledge to abide by the Secrecy Oaths.
If you pass, you are then required to attend an interview with one of our agents, a session on Norm skills, a Norm skills test afterwards, to make sure that you’ve learned all the necessary skills needed to survive unnoticed in the Normal world.
Paranormals of school age will need to take an intense day of lessons in Norm subjects, as they greatly differ from Paranormal school lessons.
Before you leave, the Bureau will personalise a backstory which you must memorise to ensure your and our secrecy is kept intact during the whole of your visit.
No telling anyone about your ability, no using your ability in front of Norms, no allowing anyone to guess that you have an ability. Outside this Compound you must act, look, and speak as though you are Normal.
If these rules are breached, the Bureau will be forced to take severe consequences, such as a complete memory swipe.
